St. Patricks day and Thrift Stores

Posted on by in Uncategorized

Hello everyone!

Did any of you get a heads up notice from thrift stores about St. Patrick’s day? Well, I did!

Like most thrift stores, holiday time is an opportunity for them to bring in some buyers by offering specials surrounding a specific holiday and incorporating their goods with that specific holiday.  I just got an email from one my favorite thrift stores stating that all of their green items are 50 cents! Woo hoo!  And everything else in the store that is not green is half off.  I’m on my way now.  But I wanted to remind all of you who may have not thought of it to visit your thrift stores for this very reason.

Green to me is a retro color and you know that my book exposes retro and vintage items.  I see a huge opportunity here!  And for those of you that tire easy (like me) you can spend the day just looking for green items. That’s easy enough.

Make sure to look over the items in Thrift Store Goldmines to refresh your memory of what brings in lots of cash.  Print out that checklist I made for you if need be or simply jot down some notes.

And remember, since most thrift stores will run this type of special, save energy to go to more than one.

Good luck and let me know if you find some goldmines!

and a reminder to sign up for email alerts or facebook pages for thrift stores if they do that in your area. I just realized this last week when I visited liberty thrift (I think they are nationwide like goodwill) and they had a sign posted about a facebook page. I get alerts on facebook now when they have sales–and their pages are comedy-oriented too sometimes!

    Hi, Brigitte
I hope you found lots of goodies today! I did not go thrifting today, so I don’t know if there was any sale going on. For the Salvation Armies in my area, they usually have sales on holiday weekends. I’ve never checked on St Patty’s Day, so it will be interesting to see next year if they do have sales on this special day. Incidentally, yesterday, there was a 50% off sale at my favorite thrift store, and I loaded up! This particular thrift store has 50% sale days once a month, so it does not tend to follow the holiday sale trends that other stores adhere to.

Hi Serena! Well I did find some deals. I actually focused on getting my new niece some clothes today. All kids clothes were 75 cents! I asked my niece if she wouldn’t mind second hand for her baby and she didn’t mind at all. I mean, really, how often are baby clothes worn anyway? They grow out of them so fast ya know? I’m so excited to say I got about 10 outfits for under $10!
