That starburst dishware is still selling!

Posted on 01. Feb, 2010 by Brigitte in Uncategorized

If you have my book then you already know about the Franciscan Starburst dishware I talk about. I was keeping an eye out today on a plate that was up for auction to make sure these are still hot and yes indeed they are.  Take a look below……….

This is for only one plate! Plates and dishware is usually pretty cheap in thrift stores. I always look for this pattern because it sells every time.  They are also easy to spot since you are looking for this specific pattern.  You might have to dig through  a stack of plates but who cares right? Don’t be surprised to pay only 99 cents or even less!

Although it’s very tempting, don’t bother with chips or cracks. What I do is run my finger all around the rim to feel for chips as sometimes you don’t see them that well. I do the same on the front and back of the plate.

I recommend you go back to the book to see the other dishware in this pattern so you can keep an eye out.  And good luck!

    Hi, Brigitte,
I was lucky enough to find one Starbirst plate at the Salvation Army several months ago, and it sold for a good price…other Franciscan patterns don’t seem to do as well and I’ve stopped buying them. How about having a forum for readers to tell about their amazing thrift shop finds? I have a few stories that I could share.

I haven’t found any of this pattern yet but I buy ANY franciscan that I find. I had an ashtray once that sold for 75.00. I think it was rare and old but I got it for 1.00 at a local auction when I didn’t even know what I was doing!

My Mom had a HUGE set of these dishes that we sold for practically nothing several years ago at their Estate Sale. I think it was a 8 piece place setting…and ALL the pieces! Boy…what a bummer! You can bet I’ll be watching for them from now on. Thanks for the heads up!

Oh what a bummer Terri! I guess that’s how the rest of us get to find stuff so cheap. Yikes! But what goes around comes around so you’ll find that treasure or even these dishes again.
