The bad ecomony finally made it’s way into my life.

Posted on by in Uncategorized

Hi friends! Sorry no posts for awhile. I’ve got so many projects going on I’m spreading myself a little thin but here I am.

I was prompted to write today because I was just informed at my day job (I’ve been in the insurance field for 20 years) that there will be a 10% pay cut effective immediately.  Now I know I’m lucky to have a job at all! But I’ve never had a pay cut or been laid off or any of those things before. 10% is a pretty big chunk.

So what does this have to do with Thrift Store Goldmines and eBay?  I know with selling on eBay I will make up that 10% no problem. Now it used to be “extra” money where now it will be filling in the gap. Some of my coworkers gasped and tried to figure out what they were going to do. I feel really bad for them.  I said, “Have you thought about sell on eBay?” They responded how many people do, “Oh I don’t have anything to sell.”  I proceed to share with them that just about anything on eBay can sell. I proceed to share with them what I do. Most of them know already but thought I’d remind them.

“Oh you’re lucky you get to find stuff to sell.”   Luck? ha, hardly! I know people collect things. People have been collecting things for years and years.  As generations move up in the decades, more items become collectible. Things of our childhood and memories of home prompt a lot of buyers to spend spend spend.

Do you have to find antiques and that rare item? NO! This post would be incredibley long if I listed all you could sell but trust me when I tell you that there is ALWAYS something that can sell. I bet if I walked into your home I could find at least 5 things.

So what are these things? You could use something like Hammertap to do some research or go directly to eBay itself and look at what people are bidding on.  I had so many people in my life commenting on the things I bought and sold that it prompted me to the write the book on what to sell on eBay. And I’ll tell ya, it’s a small list compared to all it could be.

If you’re struggling in this ecomony I urge you to give eBay a try. Why selling only one item a week or even a month could bring an extra $100 if not more.  If you’ve got concerns about doing so, contact me and let’s chat. Better yet, join my forum and chat with the rest of us.  The link is to your right.

You CAN make extra money easily. Yes, easily! We’re in a day and age where it CAN be done!

Until next time……………..

Hi Brigitte! I agree with you that the bad economy is hitting everyone hard, so we all must do something to keep up. We have been selling on eBay for over 10 years and will continue to do so to earn extra cash each month. We recently just became certified as an eBay Education Specialist and will be holding our first training class to teach “How to Sell on eBay”, another great way to earn extra income! We still bargain hunt at all Thrift Stores and have found some great items to sell on eBay that we were amazed on how quick they flew out of our store. Who knew that these thrift store items would be so popular, we didn’t know at first, just tested the waters by listing them on eBay, and the items sold out fast. Everyone should try to sell on eBay: First start with the few items they have around their house, then they can start the Thrift Store bargain hunts! All in all, we have to do what we can in this day and age to earn extra income – today is a great day to start!

Brigitte- so sorry to hear about your pay cut. That’s ouchy !!! I had missed your posts and kinda wondered what was up…. you’re so talented w/ your thrifting, that you’ll probably never feel the 10% cut and… who knows…. this may lead to something even better ! Best wishes, Tami

Brigitte, so sorry to hear about the pay cut. 10% is significant. I will be leaving my corporate job altogether come end of Sept myself, but this is of my own will. I decided to really focus on my eBay business, and my corporate job has been really taking a toll on me. So, what you said about using eBay to earn an income is so true. Keep us posted on your endeavors!

    Brigitte:
Sorry to hear of the pay cut. Maybe this will lead to better things; like stream lining postings on e-bay or improved shopping methods. I know it is hard but keep the positive energy going.

I too am feeling the economy woes. I am being laid off along with my entire Department (Credit Card Collections) on August 31. I will be focusing more on Ebay and other selling ventures. Cheryl
