Hi Jan, yes it happens to me and a lot of others. Summer is the slowest time on eBay for sure. Look at when you’re ending your auctions. Is the ending time when people might be out of the house since it’s summer? Do you have decent photos? etc. We’d have to take a peak to critique them. Hi, Briditte: I’m getting a little discouraged. I haven’t sold anyuthing for three weeks, and I’m following your book plus doing other things as well. I have over 200 items for sale and I usually sell about 10 or so a week. Is it a very slow summer? I also went looking in Search in Ebay for an item I have listed, and it never came up. Did this ever happen to you? Thabnks for all your help and advice. Jan

Ed, that is so funny about what you said about touching an item and then it sells! My mentor, Lynn Dralle, says the same thing happens to her.

No problem. I’m not quite sure what you mean on the “cheapest” shipping and going to the post. I don’t have to go to the post office anymore with stamps.com or even with shipping off of eBay. Actually, you get a discount online so it’s cheaper than the post office.

Do the math on having a store or not. Insertion fees are cheaper with a store for fixed price than without.

Good job on the newsletter as usual. I’ve been thinking about a store, but I keep hanging off. You’re right about things I think will sell immediately, set there for months. I run auctions and I also have about 30 items that are BIN. Of course, they renew each month, which means I pay each month. I have also starting paying the 10-cents to have some of my listings visible overseas. But I don’t know yet whether it’s worth the 10-cents as all along I’ve had buyers from Europe, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Australia and Canada.

For the most part I use PP shipping or USPS Click and Ship. But there’s a real drawback in that you cannot but the “cheapest” shipping online. For the absolute “cheapest” shipping you have to go to the post office.

Sorry I’m off topic, it’s just one of my pet peaves.

That’s for sure Brigitte! I learned from my eBay mentor long ago (CJ, user ID xoxmas) that the right buyer will come along. It’s nice to wake up in the morning to see that four or five items have sold out of your store. An eBay store is a powerful tool for any eBay seller that may have lots of standing inventory. It WILL sell! In fact, CJ told me the exact same thing that you just told us, the right buyer WILL come along.
Here’s another funny thing that I find happens, and I don’t know if this is true for you too. When something has not sold for a while, and it has been sitting in the garage, and you see it and happen to touch it, it seems to sell within a week or two. Weird but true. I happens to CJ too.
