Hello everyone! Wow, I’ve finally gotten this up and running!
This site is for the sole purpose of discussing all that is Thrift Store Goldmines. If you already have the book then you’re already in on all of the fun! If you don’t yet have the book, you’ll still get some inside scoop and really powerful information.
We’re gonna talk about all sorts of fun stuff here. This is the place to post your questions and comments and I will respond to them as soon as possible. Others, especially those that own my book, can chime in too with their great tips and tricks of the trade. We’re all making money and want to share it with you!
You can expect me to talk about the items I find at thrift stores, how well I did selling them, how much profit I made, what works , what doesn’t and so much more.
I hope you find this site informative and useful as that is my intent. I’m sure we will all become friends here as having this passion in common has already made me some great friends that love to thrift store hunt and make cash by doing so.
So please browse around and come back as I’ll be adding much much more!
Sincerely,
Brigitte

Hi- I see that you’re of the philosophy that selling times / auction end times are important, and you make some compelling arguments. I have never listed an item, with a SCHEDULED start / end time– I always just post them as I list.. When selling on ebay, they charge a fee for this service, right ? Are there any cheaper or free ways to start listings at designated times ? thanks for your expertise !

Yes Tami. It can make or break you selling it or not. There is actual research done and when certain buyers are online. For example, moms are usually online early in the morning or early afternoon (before babies wake and after a nap.) I found that businessmen in New York are on eBay very early before the stock market. Crazy huh? I find out all of this by using Hammertap. Now, what I use is Auctiva. They used to be free. They never charged for extra photos (like ebay does) or the templates which there are tons of, listing times, etc. They charge now but it’s still worth it. They have a starter plan for $2.95 or monthly for $9.95. I tried the starter and found that I went over my allowed items. So I do $9.95. You’re gonna pay on eBay anyway so I think it’s worth it. Let me know if you try it!

Hi Brigitte and Tami. If I am adding auctions on eBay in the am, mid day or at midnight I often set them on a schedule then a 1/2 hour before they go on I revise the listing to start immediately, it only takes a few minutes even if I have a lot of listings and you don’t pay the ten cents. This also allows me to make changes if I need to before the listing goes on. If I happen to forget or get busy at least they are still going on when I want them to. Thanks Brigitte for your newsletters. Take care.

I have hit the garage sales, antiques sales, estate sales, flea markets for years and thought I knew everything on how to buy my “junk” for resale. Well, I didn’t know it all! Aftr getting Bridgetts book I found many other tips to fill in for the years I’ve done this. It is a great book. She speaks like a “live” and down to earth person, not like a keyed in robot! She will even forward other info to you if you just spend a few minutes with her as a “friend”, this gals is full of good, common everyday knowledge. BUT GET HER BOOK FIRST!

Hi Brigitte, I truly love all the advice and tips & tricks that you provide as they are most helpful & best of all profitable! My boyfriend and I have been selling on eBay for quite some time now and we are finally starting up our new website for all seasonal & holiday items. We love the thrift/dollar stores as we have found some great items to sell that made a great profit. For example, we found a 2010 Dilbert desk calendars at a dollar store, purchased a bunch of them (hoping that they would sell) and to our surprise, they sold off our eBay store in a flash. We had to go back to the store to purchase more just to keep up with the demand! This just proves that you never know what you will find, just keep in mind one thing – - – LOOK AT EVERYTHING when you shop and always think “Hey, I can sell that” because you will always be able to find a buyer for it! Keep sending your great tips, we love em!
