What to Sell on eBay – Almost 10,000 searches per month!

Posted on 14. Jun, 2010 by Brigitte in Uncategorized

Hello, today I’m talking about the fears that stop us from moving forward with an idea, project, etc.

The phrase “what to sell on eBay” is searched for almost 10,000 times per month on Google. Related terms like “how to sell on eBay” are searched for over 60,000 times per month.  WOW!

There are a lot of you out there wanting to sell on eBay but aren’t sure what to sell or even how to begin? I want to be sensitive to the fact that not everyone sells on eBay like we do. We just assume that sometimes don’t we? An easy answer to this question is truly “anything can sell on eBay!”   But that’s not specific enough for some people I know.

Some of you want to be a serious business on eBay. Some of you just want some side cash and most of you are probably somewhere in between.  To know what to sell on eBay is not as imporant as what is “selling” or “in demand.” Because like I said, you can really sell anything.  You wouldn’t believe how many things in your home right now are items people are begging for!

You may think you need to go the wholesale route or that drop shipping is the way to go.  My suspicion though is that a lot of you might be afraid to take that first step.  How does shipping work? How do I collect money?  All these answers are on eBay if not on the web.  That is really the easy part.

But if you are truly struggling with knowing what to sell on eBay and along with that don’t have a lot of money or none at all to buy inventory, know that you really don’t need ANY MONEY AT ALL to get started. That’s right!  You wouldn’t believe the items you have in your home right now that can bring you in a hundred dollar bill or two.

My suggestion is to consider my book where I show you used items that sell.  And if they’re used then the chance of you owning it already is pretty high!  I make some really nice side cash from selling on eBay and 99.9% of my inventory is from thrift stores.  It is not uncommon for me to spend $1 and get back $20 if not more! Just rinse and repeat and the next thing you know, you’re in the groove as we say.

You can also check eBay directly by searching their completed listings and just browse through the categories.  What is in green has sold.  Just give it a chance and the next you know money will be your pocket (well bank account.)

Don’t let fear stop you from pursuing your dreams of making money online. Whatever you feel is holding you back, just know we were ALL in that boat at one time or another.  You CAN do it.

If your trying to get started selling on eBay then start small with stuff from your own house that you don’t want or use anymore. Check out closed listings to see what/if there selling and go from there. Thats how I started now I shop thrift store locally and garage sales I find on Craigs list. I want to open a store now and “fear” is holding me back from that but not for long…

Selling items you already have lying around the house is a great way to get started. I would also add that, in order to get from being overwhelmed by all the things you can sell on eBay, start in one category first, preferably one you are already familiar with. For example, if you’re a mom, you’re probably already very familiar with the different brands and prices of baby products that are out there in the marketplace, so start there. You will know when you come across a bargain at a thrift store or garage sale. And when you list an item, you have the advantage of knowing what a typical buyer of that item is looking for, and you can write up your description based on that knowledge. You will come across like an “expert” in your category.

When you are comfortable with selling, you can branch out into other categories and try selling other types of items. That’s the way most of us secondhand sellers learned – by trial and error.

Susan if you are talking about opening an ebay store, go for it! Start with the basic, it’s like getting your own website, at a great price with traffic to boot!! ebay does a great job with the search engines, etc.
You can always close it if you need to.
