Hello Antionette, are you a fellow French gal like me?

Well no , you do NOT have to be a powerseller. Anyone can open a store. There is no minimum or maximum. As far as people looking in your store, store and auction listings show up together now. So if you have something in your store it will show up in search results the same as auctions. The more you have up for sale the more likely that you'll have more "eyes" on your items.

Hi:Just reading all the comments that are here and just great but if I been selling off and on with ebay and you mention to open an ebay store do you need alot of items to sell??
When you list your items in your store do you need to be a power seller??? And will people look in your store if you don't have the item up for sale on Ebay??
I do not know to much about an Ebay store trying to get started in something and do not do to well and I don't have a lot of money to invest which may not be a good thing

Susan if you are talking about opening an ebay store, go for it! Start with the basic, it's like getting your own website, at a great price with traffic to boot!! ebay does a great job with the search engines, etc.
You can always close it if you need to.

Selling items you already have lying around the house is a great way to get started. I would also add that, in order to get from being overwhelmed by all the things you can sell on eBay, start in one category first, preferably one you are already familiar with. For example, if you're a mom, you're probably already very familiar with the different brands and prices of baby products that are out there in the marketplace, so start there. You will know when you come across a bargain at a thrift store or garage sale. And when you list an item, you have the advantage of knowing what a typical buyer of that item is looking for, and you can write up your description based on that knowledge. You will come across like an "expert" in your category.

When you are comfortable with selling, you can branch out into other categories and try selling other types of items. That's the way most of us secondhand sellers learned - by trial and error.

If your trying to get started selling on eBay then start small with stuff from your own house that you don't want or use anymore. Check out closed listings to see what/if there selling and go from there. Thats how I started now I shop thrift store locally and garage sales I find on Craigs list. I want to open a store now and "fear" is holding me back from that but not for long...
